FormatterHQ

About us

Last updated

FormatterHQ is a free workspace for developers, data engineers, testers and students who need to format, validate, convert or inspect code and data quickly. It brings together more than 700 focused tools — from a JSON formatter and SQL beautifier to Base64, hash, regex and color utilities — in one fast, consistent interface.

Why we built FormatterHQ

Most developers keep a dozen bookmarks for small jobs: pretty-printing an API response, checking why a YAML file will not parse, converting a CSV export to JSON, decoding a token or generating a UUID. Those sites are often slow, cluttered, or ask you to upload data you would rather keep private. We wanted a single place where every tool loads instantly, works the same way, and respects the data you paste into it.

What you can do here

  • Format and validate JSON, XML, YAML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, PHP, Python, Java, C#, Go and many other languages, with clear error messages that point to the exact line.
  • Convert data between JSON, XML, YAML, CSV, TSV, TOML, Excel, SQL and more, and generate typed classes for Java, TypeScript, C#, Go, Kotlin, Swift and 20+ other languages.
  • Encode, escape and hash text: Base64, URL, HTML entities, JWT decoding, MD5, SHA-2, SHA-3, bcrypt and others.
  • Compare and inspect: side-by-side diff, JSON tree viewer, regex tester, cron explainer, timestamp and number-base converters.
  • Design and publish: CSS gradient and shadow generators, color and contrast tools, image converters, favicon and QR code generators, robots.txt and sitemap builders.

Privacy by design

Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser: the text and files you work with are processed on your own device and are never uploaded. Data only reaches our servers when you choose a feature that needs it — saving a shareable link, loading a file from a URL, or running a DNS or link check. Our privacy policy explains each case in plain language.

How the tools are built

We build on respected open-source projects — including Prettier, js-beautify, sql-formatter, quicktype, CodeMirror and others — and add careful handling of options, errors and edge cases. Every tool has automated tests with real sample input, and we check pages in current browsers on desktop and mobile before publishing changes.

How our guides are written

Each tool page explains what the tool does, shows real examples and answers common questions. Examples are generated by running the tool itself, so what you read matches what you get. Our editorial policy describes how content is written, checked and corrected.

Free to use

FormatterHQ is free and does not require an account. Optional accounts let you keep saved snippets, favorites and history across devices. The site is supported by advertising, which is kept away from tool buttons and inputs so it never gets in the way of your work. Businesses interested in reaching developers can see our advertising options.
