PDF tools that keep your files on your device
Most online PDF tools upload your document to a server, process it there and send it back. These PDF tools work differently: every one of them runs in your browser, so contracts, statements, medical letters and drafts never leave your computer or phone. They are also quick, because there is no upload or download queue, and free of watermarks and page limits.
Organise pages
- Merge PDF combines several files into one, in the order you choose.
- Split PDF cuts a document into single pages, equal parts or the ranges you type.
- Rotate PDF turns sideways or upside-down pages and saves the change in the file.
- Delete PDF pages removes pages for good, so they do not linger hidden inside the file.
Convert
- PDF to JPG renders pages as JPG, PNG or WebP images at up to 300 DPI.
- JPG to PDF turns photos, scans and screenshots into one PDF, keeping JPEG quality and removing photo location data.
- PDF to text extracts the text of every page in reading order.
Inspect and clean
- PDF metadata viewer shows the author, creator app, dates, XMP data, security settings and page sizes.
- PDF metadata remover strips or edits those properties before you share a file.
- PDF word counter counts words, characters and pages for quotes and word limits.
- PDF font checker lists the fonts and whether they are embedded, which printers and archives require.
Password-protected PDFs
Tools that only read a PDF can open a password-protected file once you enter the password. The password is used by your browser and never stored or sent. Tools that save a changed copy (merge, split, rotate, delete pages and the metadata remover) do not accept encrypted files. Saving the copy would quietly remove the password, and an unprotected copy of a protected document is rarely what you want.
What browser-based processing means for you
Because the work happens on your device, speed depends on your computer and the size of the file. Typical documents of a few dozen pages are processed in a second or two. Very large scans of hundreds of megabytes can take longer on a phone. Nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no copy on a server to delete, and no account is needed.
Scanned documents are pictures of pages. They can be split, merged, rotated and converted to images like any PDF, but their words cannot be counted or extracted without OCR software that recognises the text first.
