Delete PDF pages you do not need
Blank pages from a duplex scan, an outdated appendix, a page with someone's personal details: to delete PDF pages, click their thumbnails and download the shorter file. Selected pages are dimmed and marked with a cross, and the page numbers appear in the box above, where you can also type them directly.
Removed means removed
Some editors delete a page by hiding it from the page list, and save the change by appending to the file. The old page objects can then stay inside the PDF, invisible but readable with the right software. That matters when you remove pages for privacy. This tool builds a new PDF from the pages you keep. Any link that pointed to a deleted page is removed too, so the deleted content cannot sneak back in through it.
What the new file keeps
| Kept | Not carried over |
|---|---|
| Remaining pages with their text, images, fonts and rotation | Bookmarks, which may point to deleted pages |
| Title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer | Interactive form fields (their current values may still show) |
| Links between remaining pages | Links to deleted pages |
To strip the document properties as well, run the result through the PDF metadata remover.
Common uses
- Blank pages: duplex scans of single-sided documents leave an empty page after every real one.
- Personal details: remove a page with bank details, signatures or an ID copy before sharing the rest.
- Outdated pages: drop an old price list, cover letter or draft appendix without exporting the whole document again.
Typing page numbers
The box accepts commas and ranges: 3 removes one page, 2, 5-7 removes four, and 20- removes page 20 to the end. At least one page has to stay; to keep only a few pages of a long file, Split PDF with a custom range is quicker. Typing and clicking stay in sync, so you can type a range and then click thumbnails to add or remove single pages.
Password-protected PDFs
Encrypted PDFs are not changed, because the new file would lose its protection. Remove the password in the application that created the PDF, then delete the pages.
If pages are sideways rather than unwanted, Rotate PDF turns them instead.
